Hashprice explained

Hashprice is the expected daily revenue of one terahash per second of hashrate, usually quoted in dollars per TH/s per day. It condenses the Bitcoin price, the block reward, fees and network hashrate into one number.

How it is computed

Take the daily revenue of the whole network, subsidy plus fees, convert it to dollars, then divide by the network hashrate in TH/s.

How to use it

Compare hashprice with your cost per TH/s per day, which is mostly electricity for an owned machine or the price of the plan for rented hashrate. If revenue per TH/s is below cost, the position loses money.

Limits

Hashprice is backward-looking and changes daily. It says nothing about the future, and results for a small miner vary with pool luck.

Frequently asked questions

Is a high hashprice good?

It means more revenue per TH/s today, but it can fall quickly.

Is it the same as profit?

No. Profit is revenue minus all your costs.
